Chip Away

In addition to the mini-golf, there are a couple chipping games that you can play inside the porch using various plastic, wiffle, styrofoam and soft rubber golf balls.  I actually found a lot of these balls in my yard.  I think my neighbor of the other side of the fence was practicing golf with them (and, given the number that went over the fence, really needs the practice).

You have your choice of a variety of pitching and sand wedges—even a left-handed one.  You can even choose the type of mat from which to hit.  There is: the thin lie mat, which is just the thinnest carpet stapled to plywood; the padded mat, that has bubble wrap between the carpet and the board; the fluffy mat, which has packing insulation under the carpet.

On the original Chip Away hole, you aim at a decorative metal black cat that has a garden flag flying above it and a hole at its feet.  You get 10 points for hitting the flag, 15 for hitting the cat and 100 for a hole-in-one.  The pink styrofoam balls score double because they really don't fly very well—plus, many of them have been chewed up by the cats so they’re not quite round.

This is the setup for the Chip Away game.

How to play Chip Away (not a hole-in-one but 15 points doubled for pink ball)

The other game involves hitting across the pool to the first green.  For this one you get 10 points for each ball on the green and 100 for a hole-in-one.  The orange Nerf-type balls score double because they're bouncy and hard to keep on the green.
